Toronto, ON (July 16, 2010) – Pizza Pizza, Canada’s leading and home-grown pizza chain, has stepped up its sponsorship of professional motorsports, and will be more active and visible than ever before at this weekend’s Honda Indy Toronto.
The company, which has always had a vending presence, track signage and interactive promotions at the “Indy”, is now also participating through a driver and team sponsorship.
“We cherish our longstanding partnership with the Indy, which first began in the mid 90s,” said Pat Finelli, chief marketing officer at Pizza Pizza. “It’s traditionally been one of our most successful events from a sales perspective. When the race returned in 2009, we geared up to show our support through a larger multilayered sponsorship program and felt the time was right to do even more in 2010.”
Throughout race weekend, families and fans will be able to visit the Pizza Pizza Family Zone, which includes a misting station, jumping castle, and sports games. The company is also the lead sponsor of Caitlin Johnston, a 21-year-old Ontarian who is racing in the Canadian Tire Jumpstart 100 on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. Pizza Pizza has supported Caitlin for the past six years and recently helped finance her entrance into the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
“I’m very aware of my blessings, especially my relationship with sponsors,” said Caitlin Johnston. “Pizza Pizza’s support has helped me to live my dream.”
In the past few years, Caitlin has travelled to various communities and Pizza Pizza restaurants to meet consumers, show her car and share her passion for motorsports.
“Caitlin offers Canadians a great form of entertainment, and she is a great ambassador for our youth today,” said Finelli. “She is an excellent driver and wonderful person.”
