10 Random Toronto Indy Facts

1. Being the sons of former winners, both Marco Andretti and Graham Rahal have the chance to become the first second generation drivers to win the Honda Indy Toronto.

2. In terms of number of IndyCar races run, the Toronto Indy is the fourth oldest race on the current schedule. Only the Indy 500, Grand Prix of Long Beach, and Phoenix have hosted more IndyCar races than the Streets of Toronto.

3. IndyCar commentators Paul Tracy (1990) and Townsend Bell (2001) have won both the Toronto Indy and Toronto Indy Lights race.

5. Michael Andretti is the only person to win the Toronto Indy as both a driver and car owner separately.

6. Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Sebastien Bourdais, Paul Tracy, Cristiano da Matta, and Michael Andretti are the only drivers to have won the Toronto Indy from pole position.

7. No rookie has ever won the Toronto Indy. Second place is the best a rookie has ever managed, with Alex Zanardi and Neel Jani achieving this back in 1996 and 2007, respectively.

8. Despite numerous starts, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota only have a single race win each on the Streets of Toronto - thanks in part to Mark Blundell and Cristiano da Matta, respectively.

9. Three different tire manufacturers have carried drivers into Victory Lane at the Toronto Indy. Firestone holds the record with most wins (16) followed by Goodyear (10), and then Bridgestone (5).

10. Completing a single lap on the Streets of Toronto requires a driver to tame 11 unique turns.
